Lackadaisy fanart wip

's comic Lackadaisy is a real work of art (especially if you're a cat/animal person).
She draws her characters like it's no one else's business and is very clever and in depth about the historical accuracy she puts into it.

Bet some of you thought I was never going to update this submission, huh? I've been working on a couple of extra doodles of Meesha, they've just been misplaced over the last two years.
This makes like 2/4-ish of the drawing for Meesha done so far.

I was inspired to give her a bright green dress after watching the Gotta Dance/Broadway Melody scene in the classic movie "Singin' In The Rain". It fits with the rest of her coloring and designing this dress was fun.
I'm still trying to design more Roaring Twenties appropriate outfits for her.

Augustine's design still won't pan out for some reason... :/

Meesha "Honeybee" Tsarloff

*Meesha gets her nickname from her family pet name "Pchelka" or "little bee" in Russian, which was given to her for her diligent nature, her tendency to hum while she works, and her honey colored fur.

___BACKGROUND________________
Hailing from a family of second generation Russian-Americans, Meesha is the youngest of seven children (not to mention the only girl). Her father wanted her to become a strong, able woman, so in addition giving her a man's name, with the help of her uncle and six older brothers he taught her how to fight, shoot, and even started enlisting her help on their fishing boat when she was in her teens.
Meesha and her immediate family are not Jewish, but she does allude to having relatives who are of Jewish-Russian Heritage. She also has family members who were entertainers in their youth, but didn't realize her own talent for performing until she took a part time job at a local theatre with her childhood friend, Augustine "Gusto" Marconi.

Since graduating high school they've earned their way across the states as a vaudville duo and by occassionaly working for speakeasies. They came to work for the Lacakdaisy Gang after the last speakeasy they worked for was raided.
Meesha and Augustine have experienced their own share of trouble before joining the Lackadaisy Crew, from inciting riots, vandalism, to possibly arson. She's even hinted of being presummed dead in Chicago.

All those years of cleaning fish, working on her father's boat, and playing Mumblety-Peg with her brothers and boy cousins made her very effecient at throwing and handling knives. So in addition to a concealed handgun, she always carries a switchblade on her just in case.


__PERSONALITY______________
A robust, wisecracking, and poker-faced young woman when she isn't performing, many find it hard to believe that Meesha is the same sultry girl that lights up the stage with her singing and dancing. While she may appear to be a total vamp, Meesha is reliable and hardworking, the sort of person that's quick to handle any task she's given. She does not hesitate to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty, saying that it makes taking a bath all the more enjoyable later once the job is done.
She speaks perfect English with a VERY slight Russian accent, but will sometime affect in a much thicker one, usually to give herself an exotic flair to customers and to trick people into thinking she's a naive foreigner who understands little English.

Meesha tends to be very practical when it comes to romance, such as refusing to get involved with men who are too young/immature, old enough to be her grandfather, have a boorish personalities, or only see her as a cheap fling. She is most notably attracted to men who have strong, intelligent, down-to-earth qualities and has been known to occassionally flirt and develop crushes, but is quick to back away when the attraction proves to be shallow or the man in question is, in her own words, "a threat to her civil liberties".

Meesha likes to coin people she knows with nicknames, such as calling Augustine "Gusto", Mizti May as "Boss Lady", Rocky Rigby as "Crazy Face", or Dorian "Zib" Zibowski as "Zibsy" (which he finds annoying).
Zib mistook her immediate assertion with him and the band as bossiness and arrogance, so when Meesha overheard him calling her a "primadonna", she starts teasing and irritating him with almost every chance she gets --- the perfect set up for a hate turned love relationship.
